Alpine Radio Project RED. This conversion is about taking a Alpine radio with buttons that are lighted in only green and modifying them to display in a similar read to the gauges and heater controls. The first step is to remove the detachable display and remove the two screws from the back, see figure 1. Figure 1 Once the two screws are removed, take a screwdriver and gently pry the two pieces apart from the end with the two grooves. A gently twist of the screw driver inside this groove will help separate the two pieces. Once you have the front off you will see the LEDs with the green rubber caps. Remove the caps, see figure 2 Figure 2 Once the green caps are removed, paint the LEDs with red fingernail polish or equivalent paint. See figure 3 Figure 3 Reassemble in reverse order, and install the detachable face back onto your radio and sit back and enjoy the results of 15 minute radio light color change. Looks AWESOME at night, see figure 4 (Daytime view) Figure 4 Approximate time to complete: 15 - 20 minutes Tools required: small phillips screwdriver Additional Materials: Red Nail Polish - Walmart, or your wifes cosmetic cabinet :) Red LEDs instead of Green ones: PRICELESS |
